Reflashing the white 91PAD tablet

In this article, we'll show you how to reflash the white 91PAD Teclast tablet, which runs Android 7. These were the tablets, which shipped with the early DE1XL machines .

Please note that reflashing a tablet can brick it. So only do this as a last resort and if recommended by Decent tech support.

Important warning & checklist

  • Backup essential data: Reflashing will completely wipe all files, personal settings, and installed applications from the tablet.
  • Charge the battery: Ensure the tablet has at least 50% battery before starting to prevent it from powering off mid-process.
  • Use as a last resort: Reflashing carries a risk of bricking your device. Only perform this process if the tablet is stuck in a boot loop or cannot boot successfully.

  • Step 1: Confirm your device

Verify that you have the correct hardware model before proceeding:

  • Color: White front/back bezel.
  • Model: "91PAD" (a white-label, relabeled Teclast tablet running Android 7).

  • Step 2: Download the firmware package

    Download the required software package:

  • File: 91PAD_Firmware.zip (624 MB)
  • Contents: This single archive contains the necessary firmware, USB drivers, and the flashing tool.

  • Step 3: Extract and prepare the flashing tool

    1. Download 91PAD_Firmware.zip to your Windows PC.
    2. Right-click the .zip file and select Extract All to uncompress its contents into a dedicated folder.
    3. Open the extracted folder and locate the Driver directory.
    4. Run the driver installer program to ensure your computer correctly recognizes the tablet when connected via USB.

    Step 4: Flash the firmware

    1. Launch the flashing software: Navigate to the unzipped files and launch the flashing executable (typically flash_tool.exe or UpgradeDownload.exe).
    2. Load the scatter/firmware file:
  • Look for the config/scatter load option (e.g., clicking Choose or the Settings gear icon).
  • Select the scatter text file or .pac firmware file provided within the extracted firmware directory.
  • 3. Initiate flashing mode:
  • Click the Download or Start button in the tool.
  • Power OFF the 91PAD tablet completely.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down (or Volume Up) button while plugging the tablet into your PC using a USB cable.
  • 4. Monitor progress: The software will detect the tablet and begin downloading the firmware image onto the device. You can release the volume button once the progress bar starts filling.
    5. Finish and reboot:
  • Wait 3–8 minutes until the process completes and shows a "Passed" or green checkmark notification.
  • Disconnect the USB cable.
  • Hold the Power button to turn the tablet on.

  • (Note: The initial boot up after a full system reflash may take up to 10 minutes).
