The narrow spout is best for advanced latte artists, as it lets you draw very fine lines, as well as featuring linear control over the milk line width as you pour. The wide spout, on the other hand, tends to give you just one line width.
This milk jug size is the best size for single milk drinks. In addition, a common advanced latte art technique is to steam in a small milk jug, then transfer the milk to a larger jug for pouring latte art.
