How to replace your steam wand with the BengleWand on v1.46 DE1 models

This quick and easy tutorial will guide you through the process of replacing the steam wand on your v1.46 machine from Decent (DE1PRO, DE1XL, or DE1XXL) with the BengleWand.

    BengleWand installation guide for v1.46 DE1 machine models

    Tools necessary
  • T10 Torx screwdriver
  • Straight tip tweezers
  • Two adjustable wrenches, or 25 mm and 26 mm wrenches
  • Nippers

    • Step 1: Power disconnection

    For DE1XL and DE1XXL models:

    1. Remove the back panel.
    2. Turn off the machine's back switch.
    3. Unplug the power cord.

    For DE1PROs

    1. Turn off the machine's back switch.
    2. Unplug the power cord.

    Step 2: Remove external components

    Slide-in tablet stand:

    1. Unplug the USB cable.
    2. Gently pull the tablet stand out.

    Screwed-in tablet stand:

    1. Unscrew the three screws holding the tablet stand.
    2. Remove the stand.

    Then...

    1. Remove the drip tray.
    2. Remove the drip tray cover.
    3. Remove the portafilter.
    4. Remove the group head handle.

    Step 3: Remove the main cover
    1. Use a T10 screwdriver to remove the 8 screws securing the main cover.
    2. Gently stretch the sides of the cover outward.
    3. Lift the cover off the machine.

    Step 4: Remove the steam wand
    1. Remove the clip securing the steam tube inside the machine.
    2. Pull the 90º angled fitting along with the tube.
    3. Hold the inside nut with an adjustable wrench or a 25 mm wrench.
    4. Hold the outside nut with another adjustable wrench or a 26 mm wrench.
    5. Loosen the nuts.
    6. While holding the outside nut, unscrew the inside nut by hand.
    7. Pull the steam wand out from the outside of the machine.
    8. Remove the white spacer remaining inside the machine.

    Step 5: Install the BengleWand
    1. Unscrew the brass nut from the BengleWand.
    2. Insert the wand's connector through the hole.
    3. Screw the brass nut on by hand.
    4. Use 25mm wrench to fully tighten it
    5. Install a new O-ring onto the end of the 90º angled fitting
    6. Insert the fitting into its connector using a gentle circular motion.
    7. Reinstall the clip.
