The Decent Knockbox: why your trash can matters

A good knockbox makes a real difference in how your coffee routine feels. In this video, John explains how the Decent knockbox is designed to make puck disposal smoother, quicker, and more convenient.

What were we hoping to improve?

We drew inspiration from champagne buckets and created the knockbox's tapered shape. It has a tilted, flared opening that catches grinds so they don't scatter across your counter. Unlike flat designs, which you need to use only at a certain angle, our design lets you knock from different angles, a lot more flexible depending on your setup. It also means you wouldn't hit your knuckles on the rim. The shape allows the knockbox to be countersunk as well.

Durability was important to us, so we built the body and bar from metal. It can hold about 25 pucks before needing to be emptied, but still compact enough to be tucked away on your counter.

Sound was another consideration. We wrapped the knock bar in silicone so using it is a quiet experience. The base is padded with a slip-resistant material that also dampens noise.

Bottomless knockbox

We also offer a bottomless model that lets you knock grounds straight into a bin below the counter. It's particularly useful when you're handling high volumes of espresso.

Knockbox ring

Rubber ring for countersinking the knockbox. Used to protect the knockbox against the worksurface and helps stabilize the knockbox when in use while also reducing noise and vibrations.
