DE1 v1.46 release news

I was asked:

“Previously, I had asked you when you thought 1.46s may be available for purchase, you thought near the end of August. When I inquired with support earlier this month they said 1.46 wasn't expected now until early 2026 which put me into the mood of pulling the trigger on a 1.45 (more than anything I'm interested in the black face plate). I was curious if you can confirm this”

We had a final R&D problem to sort out with v1.46.

For DE1 v1.46 (and also Bengle) we're moving from CNCed brass for the group head parts, to using cast stainless steel.

Our supplier was having a very high failure rate (about 60%) casting parts that didn't leak water. After 3 attempts, we went to 2 new stainless steel suppliers, and one of them totally nailed it, 100% pass rate.

Besides the change to stainless steel, the new group head design uses a flat heater, which more evenly disperses heat than the cartridge heater we've been using up to now in the DE1.

We put our order in 3 weeks ago with that new supplier (end of August), with delivery expected in mid-October.

So, DE1 v1.46 should start appearing in early November.
