Some other common problems

Here are some common issues and potential solutions.

1. My machine is stuck on "Wait" and won't let me make espresso! On the main screen, is the "metal" temperature reported as 0.0°C? If so, you likely have a Bluetooth connection problem. Reset Bluetooth on your tablet and it should work again. Or does it say 255°C (491°F)? That's probably a loose sensor wire. Contact us if you're interested in a DIY fix.
2. My tablet is slow / laggy / jerky. Try streamlining your tablet, or a factory reset & reinstallation of the software on your tablet.
3. My tablet charging cable melted! This is a rare problem, but we'll send you a new USB cable if that happens to you and if your machine still is under warranty. Just contact us.
4. When I swap portafilter baskets, the spring pops out. This is a mostly solved (for new machines) issue, but has reoccurred at least sometimes. Clip a few millimeters off of each end of the spring (please wear safety goggles while doing so).
5. Is my firmware up to date? You can check your firmware release by going to Settings (using the "gear" icon), clicking on the "MACHINE" tab, and checking the 8 character string after "SHA=" in the "information" pane. I the firmware is up to date, the button under "Firmware" shows as up to date.
6. Why does my fan run so often / why does it rattle? You might have put your fan activation threshold very low, or you may have put it on "always on." Go into Settings (cog wheel) - MACHINE - Calibrate. Click on "OK" to get past the warning message and check the line "Fan turns on at." Increase that if you want your fan to not always be on and click "OK."
7. My tablet turns off before finishing the start-up sequence. If your tablet runs out of battery, it likely will need to charge for several hours before it will have enough battery power to make it through an entire shot. Charge it on a wall outlet. If the problem persists after several hours of charging it, the battery is likely going bad. In that case, contact us. If your machine is still under warranty, we can send you a replacement tablet. If it's out of warranty, we can show you how to get a replacement tablet with pre-installed software.
