Is Decent working on a vibration dampener for the espresso machines?

We have completely given up on integrating standard vibration dampeners because they consistently fail within a few thousand espresso cycles. We have sourced and tested German, Swiss, and Chinese knockoff versions, and all of them suffer from the same fatal reliability flaws. If you look closely at their design, they are typically constructed from a pressed metal plate with a thin rubber membrane underneath. When the component inevitably fails under load, the metal plate completely blows off with a loud pop, which can actually dent the inside of the machine and create a very dramatic, messy leak. Given that massive home appliance companies like Siemens and Jura with large R&D budgets struggle to make these specific components perfectly reliable, we recognize that we cannot fix their fundamental structural weaknesses.

How do vibration dampeners work, and what problem do they solve?

A vibration dampener structurally acts like a mini frisbee with a flexible rubber barrier sealed inside. When a vibration pump cycles, water flows inside and pushes against the rubber membrane to fill the empty space. As the acute pressure spike from the pump subsides, the rubber membrane pushes back, effectively smoothing out the distinct hydraulic pulses of the water stream. A massive percentage of the audible noise generated by a high-end espresso machine is actually caused by these sharp hydraulic pressure waves travelling past the internal water-mixing assembly and radiating directly through the solid, rigid body of the machine.

How does the DE1's design minimize pump noise without a dampener?

While standard Swiss and German home espresso machines run their vibratory pumps at full pressure—resulting in an incredibly loud and unpleasant buzzing noise—the DE1 avoids this by operating completely differently. We never run our dual-pump system at maximum capacity during extraction. By modulating pump speeds dynamically based on real-time sensor feedback, the DE1 avoids generating the harsh, full-throttle resonance that forces other consumer brands to rely on problematic, failure-prone mechanical dampeners in the first place.
