Axel has been working with wood for years, building quality furniture and kayaks. Not as a profession but out of passion. For his new Decent, he immediately made a few handles for portafilter and group head. This he would also like to offer to other owners of Decent Espresso machines.

Axel is offering hand turned handles for portafilter and group head from his Cologne workshop.  He likes to work with walnut and oak. All handles are sanded to 400 grit, oiled several times, then waxed and polished. The lighter woods he treats with white pigmented oil, so they remain bright in the natural hue, otherwise they would become rather yellowish.

European walnut has very little heartwood but more light sapwood. American walnut, on the other hand, has more deep brown heartwood, and since these planks are mostly steamed, the sapwood is dark as well. Axel feels that the clean lines of the Decent are best matched by clean woods.
