I don't know of any other espresso machine that features a built-in mirror to help you watch your shot come out from a bottomless portafilter. This means you don't have to bend down (ouch!) to monitor your extraction. Instead, you can just take a step back, remain standing, and watch your espresso flow.
Weber (and others) sell smaller mirrors that you can place on the drip tray. While those are popular, I prefer an integrated approach.
We use a die-cut mirror attached with double-sided tape, which sits on the upward-facing lip of the drip tray. Over time, the mirror's edges can degrade or become scratched with use. We expected that, which is why we made it easily replaceable. Furthermore, as long as your machine is under warranty, we'll send you a free replacement mirror lip if yours ever gets damaged—even if you caused the damage yourself!
This video shows you how to remove the old mirror and replace it with a new one. The process only takes a few minutes and just requires a hairdryer and a knife.
