Consistency is always a challenge when you make filter coffee. With our Filter3 basket, simply insert a filter paper into the basket, then add your coffee dose, choose the Filter3 profile on your Decent, and make adjustments as needed. If you want more control, consider getting our uniquely designed Freckles or Dimples shower screen to ensure even flowing water during extraction.
Both Decent and Scott Rao sell Filter3 and default filter paper. For alternatives, you can cut out 58mm round filter papers from Chemex or an equivalent.
If you love pour-over coffee but you want consistency and automated “agitation,” we have a basket for that, too. Our Portafilter Basket for Pour-overs, also developed by Scott Rao, sends calibrated water streams through the portafilter to create a circular vortex during extraction. With a series of optimized profiles written by Rao, the streams dive far into the coffee grounds, but not so far that they channel through the filter. The end result is low-channeling/high-extraction pour-over coffees, totally automated and dependable. While you can use this basket on any espresso machine with 58mm standard baskets, you will have to program your own profiles unless you use a Decent.
To find the profiles, visit the profile list, then press the eye icon to see the full list of profiles. You can then add the "pour over basket" profiles according to the dripper that you will be using.
